What happened
Approximately 10 years of development work was affected.
Good afternoon, all my unicorns.
Unfortunately, there was a pretty big oops on August 29, 2026, and I want to be transparent with everyone about what happened and what this means for Potter Service going forward.
While I was merging and reorganizing storage, a mistake was made that resulted in approximately 10 years of working files, source code, project files, website files, and development data being deleted.
I did have backups of these files. Unfortunately, the backups I recovered were corrupted and could not be used to restore everything.
This includes much more than what you normally see when visiting a Potter Service website or using one of my projects. The loss includes source code that allows me to edit, update, and rebuild projects and websites, along with backend files, development resources, and other systems that operate behind the scenes.
What happens now?
Rebuilding from the ground up.
Because of the extent of the data loss, everything affected will have to be rebuilt and, in many cases, redesigned from the ground up.
As rebuilding continues, you may notice Potter Service websites, apps, projects, portals, and other systems beginning to look or work differently than they did before. Some features may return in a different form. Some may take longer to come back. Some projects may be redesigned entirely, and certain older features may not return if rebuilding them no longer makes sense.
I will be restoring everything piece by piece while also taking this opportunity to improve and redesign things where possible.
Because Potter Service has grown into such a large collection of services, websites, software, projects, and backend systems over the years, I am continuing to work through the full extent of what was affected.
Orders, projects, memberships & supporters
Temporary changes while rebuilding is underway.
Open work may take longer.
Open orders and projects may take longer than originally expected.
New programs are temporarily paused.
New sponsorships, supporter programs, and memberships are temporarily on hold.
September 2026 service invoices.
Invoices already paid for services scheduled to be rendered during September 2026 have been refunded.
Account credit.
Those invoices have also been marked as paid, and a 20% credit has been applied to the affected account.
Promotions & advertising.
Promotions or advertising already authorized for your account will remain active wherever possible.
Existing services.
Potter Service services will continue operating wherever the necessary systems are still available.
If you were expecting a refund or account credit and do not see it in your portal, or if an invoice, order, membership, promotion, or anything else on your account does not look right, please reach out so I can investigate it and make it right.
Moving forward
Things may look different as they return.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, delays, and confusion this may cause.
The hosting company and I have been working to recover what we can, but at this point the focus has shifted from simply restoring everything to rebuilding what was lost. This is going to take time.
You may see websites disappear and return. You may see projects come back with completely different designs. Apps may receive new interfaces. Features may temporarily be unavailable while they are rebuilt. Things may move around as I reorganize Potter Service and recreate the systems behind it.
Please don't be alarmed if something suddenly looks different.
One piece at a time
Potter Service isn't going anywhere.
This is a major rebuilding period, but I am committed to rebuilding Potter Service, its services, websites, apps, and projects one piece at a time.
And maybe, once all the dust settles, we'll end up with something even better than what we had before.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Potter Service, used one of my services, followed one of my projects, sponsored or supported my work, or simply stuck around to see what this magical unicorn builds next. Your patience and understanding while I work through this mean more than you know.
Thank you, all my unicorns. 🦄
